“Right.” She didn’t need the Force to pick up the heat of his words and Rey gave him a single nod, resolving to stop wasting her energy on trying. Rey hadn’t expected an engaging round of small talk, and she certainly did not think things were going to take a turn for the friendly. In actuality Rey didn’t know what she expected from initiating this but what she got from it was the feeling that she should have stayed in that tree.
He was like a nagging ache that left some low part of her intrigued and wanting to poke at it even though it was a terrible idea that was highly likely to continue to prove itself bad every time.
