[Another day, another desert.

It wasn't ideal, and it wasn't anything close to pleasant but there she was with nothing but sand for miles. Rey groaned audibly as she stepped off the Falcon and into the scorching sun - nothing but rock formations in the distance and the endless curvature of sand dunes in all directions. No, it wasn't ideal at all, but Rey excelled at simply keeping on and so she walked away from the ship, Chewie remaining behind to do the work he implied he was always stuck with doing. Rey would work on befriending the Wookie later - as much as she adored Chewie her orders had come from Leia herself. She hadn't known the General long, but it had been long enough to leave a lasting impression, though Rey believed it was highly unlikely that anyone could meet Leia Organa and not walk away unchanged. She was the sort of person Rey thought everyone should strive to be, and the kind of woman every scared little girl in the badlands wants to become.

So Rey walked on, even as the sand started to seep into her shoes and the suns above raged their heat down, unchecked and feckless. She thought about the General, and what she had lost as well as her own strange plight - tossed onto the merciless seas of fate after helping one droid with a bent antenna.

Rey kept walking.

Bringing Luke the last of Obi-Wan's journals was perhaps an empty gesture given that no one seemed to know the condition of the old master himself, but if it tipped the scales in the Resistance's favor Rey would do what she could to help.

A few meters away she began to make out the ruined structures of what was once the Kenobi homestead, quickening her pace until she spotted a figure wending their way through the buildings already. She tightened her grip on the staff in her hans, readying herself to use it as more than just a walking stick.

As the figure vanished into one of the buildings Rey squared her jaw and pressed on, checking to make sure her commlink was close enough to call Chewbacca in a hurry.

Still unseasoned in the Force Rey had no way of knowing if what she felt could be classed as danger, but there was a pull forward that was palpable all the same. Rey decided that her safest bet was to act as though she belonged there, and while it did nothing to loosen her grip on the staff, it emboldened her enough to lean into the doorway, squinting at the man now hovering over the pieces of an old droid. ]
